Donors provide SPC students, faculty and staff with nearly $8 million in support
Donors to St. Petersburg College stepped up their giving to the Pinellas County college during the most recent fiscal year with nearly $8 million going to support funding for students, academic programs, and community outreach. The fundraising total of $7,838,937 marked a 59 percent increase in giving year over year for the 95-year-old institution.
Donors provided $3.8 million in giving for student scholarships, $3.7 million for specific academic programs, and nearly $200,000 for the Titan Fund, which provides unrestricted dollars for collegewide use. Gifts to the education and nursing colleges were among the many academic programs supported by SPC donors.
Student organizations also benefited from increased private giving in the past year. Those benefiting included the Social Justice Initiative, Women on the Way, African American Male Initiative and Workforce Development.
“The SPC Foundation and all of St. Petersburg College is grateful to our donors and friends who made such an impact on the lives of our students, faculty, and staff this past year,” said Jesse Turtle, St. Petersburg College Vice President for Advancement & Executive Director of the Foundation. “As we approach our centennial celebration, we know that philanthropy will guide and support the continuing great work the college does in lifting people throughout Pinellas County out of poverty.”
