Looking to transfer to St. Petersburg College?

If you attended another college or university and want to attend SPC, you are considered a transfer student.

Transfer Student Transcript Requirements

To enroll at St. Petersburg College (SPC) as a transfer student, you must submit official transcripts from every regionally accredited college or university you’ve attended. All transcripts must be received within your first term of admission or re-admission, as delays may affect future enrollment eligibility.

Grace Period & Consequences
Degree-seeking students are granted a one-term grace period to submit outstanding transcripts. Failure to provide all the required documentation by the end of this period will result in a hold on your account, blocking registration for subsequent terms.

Submission Methods
Official transcripts must be sent directly from your prior institution(s) via:

  • EDI/FASTER system (preferred for Florida public colleges/universities)
  • Secure PDF sent from your previously attended institution(s)
  • Sealed hard copies mailed to SPC’s Office of Admissions and Records

Transcripts can be mailed to:
St. Petersburg College
P.O. Box 13489
St. Petersburg FL
33733-3489

What does Regional Accreditation mean?

Regional Accrediting Bodies:
To determine if the institution you're transferring credits from is accredited, refer to the following list of recognized regional accrediting agencies:

  • Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE)
  • New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC)
  • Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU)
  • Higher Learning Commission (HLC)
  • Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS)
  • Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC)

Your college transcripts will ONLY be evaluated and posted to your academic record after your application fee is paid and your high school transcript is received, or if one or both of these requirements are waived.

  1. Student must Apply to SPC
All students should review the St. Petersburg College (SPC) admissions steps. SPC will complete your transfer evaluation and post your transcript(s) when they receive all required official transcripts from previously attended Regionally Accredited institutions. This process typically occurs after the application fee is paid and any necessary additional documents, such as a high school transcript, are received.
  2. Send Your Official Transcripts to SPC
Here's how to send your official transcripts to SPC. An official transcript is one that is sent directly from the institution in a sealed envelope and is designated official in writing or by virtue of transcript format. Official transcripts can be hand delivered to any campus admissions/registration center as long as the transcript remains sealed it its original envelope from the institution. Faxed transcripts are not considered official and will not be accepted or evaluated.
If you completed an A.A.S. degree or higher at a regionally accredited institution, we will not need your high school/GED transcript or Home School Affidavit. Also, prior coursework on a college transcript may exempt you from taking the SPC Placement Test.
  3. Review Your Evaluated Transcript
Once your admissions items have been met, including application fee payment, and receipt of your transcripts, SPC will post your applicable transfer credits to your record as soon as possible. After this is complete, please check your To Do List in MySPC or view an unofficial transcript in MySPC to verify that your transfer credits have posted.
  4. Contact an Advisor
We recommend that you meet with an advisor to determine the best utilization of the transfer credits awarded to meet your degree objectives.

Delivery Options for Official Transcripts:

  1. Hand Delivery: You can hand-deliver transcripts to any SPC campus, provided they remain sealed in their original envelope from the issuing institution
  2. Electronic Delivery: To order official electronic transcripts, please contact your incoming institution for their specific procedures
  3. Mail Delivery: Official transcripts can also be sent via mail

Please Note:

  • Any Faxed or Emailed transcripts will not be accepted
  • If you earned an A.A.S. degree or higher at a regionally accredited institution, SPC will not need your high school/GED transcript or Home School Affidavit

How will my course credits transfer to SPC?

How course(s) will transfer into SPC
Here's what you need to know about using this TES:
Purpose:
TES provides an initial idea of how your previously earned credits from a regionally accredited institution may be transferred to SPC.

Continuous Updates:
TES is regularly reviewed and updated as SPC receives transcripts from various institutions.

Institution Listings:
If an institution isn't listed in TES, it does not necessarily mean SPC will not accept its credits.
However, credits from non-regionally accredited institutions or those not participating in the Florida Statewide Course Numbering System (SCNS) may not automatically transfer.

Course Listing:
If a specific course is not listed, it may be accepted by SPC. The course might be a new incoming course from your institution, in which case the SPC transcript coordinator will need to review.

Equivalency Disclaimer:
While a course equivalency may appear in the tool, it doesn't guarantee transfer to SPC. The Admissions and Records staff continuously review equivalencies, making them subject to change.

Additional Assistance:
For specific questions about the TES or the transfer process, you can contact SPC at transcript.evaluator@spcollege.edu.

Please Note:
TES provides an initial assessment. The final determination of transfer credits is made by SPC's Office of Admissions and Records after receiving and evaluating your official transcripts.

Grade Point Average (GPA) Calculation

  • All college-level course grades, including U’s and Fs, are considered in GPA calculations.
  • Grades of W (Withdrawal), audits, and courses classified as 'Vocational' will not be included in your Academic Record once your transcript has been posted
  • After transfer evaluation, check MySPC for posted transfer credits.
  • Your official SPC transcript will show:
    1. SPC GPA
    2. SPC transfer GPA
    3. Combined GPA

Course Posting Policies

  • Upper division courses: Posted only for bachelor's degree pursuits or upon program director or advisor request.
  • Graduate level courses: Not posted to SPC record.
  • Repeated courses: Only the most recent attempt is accepted.
  • Grades of “F,” “WF,” and “U” are eligible for transfer
  • Grades of “W” (or Withdrawal), “AU” (or Audit), and classes deemed vocational will not be posted.
  • Non-equivalent courses: Posted as elective credit with a '999' course number.
  • For degree requirement consideration, you submit an Alternate Satisfaction request with your advisor.

Accreditation Requirements

  • SPC accepts credits only from regionally accredited institutions.
  • Exception: Some Florida schools are participating in the Statewide Common Course Numbering System. Please review the latest list of approved courses and schools.

For initially nontransferable courses, submit:

  1. Course syllabus (including title, length, description, textbook used)

  • Army (AARTS)
  • Air Force (CCAF)

How will my course credits transfer to SPC?

Use the Transfer Evaluation Tool to get an idea of how the credits you earned at another college or university may transfer to SPC. We would be happy to answer specific questions you have about this tool. You may contact us at transcript.evaluator@spcollege.edu.

Check your transfer credit

All grades for college-level courses (including Fs) will be considered for calculation of grade point average. After your transcript evaluation is complete, please check MySPC to see if your transfer credits have been posted as expected.

  • Your official SPC transcript will reflect three items:
    • Your SPC grade point average
    • Your SPC transfer grade point average
    • A combined grade point average
  • Upper division course will only be posted to your SPC record if you are pursuing a bachelor’s degree or at the request of your program or advisor.
  • Graduate level courses will not be posted to your SPC record.
  • If you have repeated a course at another institution, SPC will accept only the most recent attempt for that course.
  • All grades for college-level courses (including Fs) will be considered for calculation of grade point average.
  • Transfer course for which there is no direct SPC equivalent will be posted as elective credit and designate with a ‘999’ course number. If you believe a course posted as an elective should satisfy a degree requirement, you may submit a request for an Alternate Satisfaction. This request should be completed in consultation with your academic advisor.
  • Non-regionally accredited institutions
SPC will transfer only course work that was completed at a regionally-accredited institution. We do not accept credits from non-regionally accredited institutions, except for some Florida schools that participate in the Statewide Common Course Numbering System and are included on an approved list maintained by the Florida Department of Education.
For courses that are initially deemed nontransferable to St. Petersburg College, you have the option of seeking an alternative method for obtaining credit. The following supporting documentation must be submitted by the student for each course requested for reconsideration:
    • A copy of each course syllabus must include course title, course length, course description, text used.
    • Verification of faculty credentials, to include a copy of the faculty member’s resume.
    • The student should submit the petition for credit form and the aforementioned documentation to the Admissions and Records department.

We recommend that you meet with an advisor to determine how to best use your transfer credits to meet your degree objectives. You should also contact the financial aid offices at SPC and the school you currently attend to determine transfer policies.
