SPC was the first to offer a completely online bachelor's degree in Health Services Administration with a concentration in Respiratory Care for current Registered Respiratory Therapists in Florida. This degree path meets the recommendation of the American Association of Respiratory Care (AARC) that 80% of respiratory therapists hold a bachelor's degree by 2020.
The Health Services Administration for Respiratory Care subplan has not yet applied for, or received, the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care's (CoARC's) accreditation for degree advancement programs. Please note such accreditation is voluntary at this time.

Program Summary
THIS PROGRAM IS NO LONGER ADMITTING STUDENTS INTO THE RESPIRATORY (RESC) SUBPLAN. LAST ADMISSION TERM IS SUMMER 2024 (0635).
This program is offered as a Fully Online program. If you are currently working in or have previous training in a health or human services field and want to move up in your career, our Health Services Administration bachelor’s degree may be your ticket. Designed to prepare you for career advancement or entry-level supervisory or managerial positions, this degree offers specialized concentrations depending on your background. Features: Classes are offered online in 8-week sessions. The final semester Capstone Course is a 16-week Experience that integrates your career interests and professional goals. Students are responsible for securing a mentor for the capstone course, and for developing their capstone project proposal in collaboration with the mentor during the pre-capstone course. Students enroll in the pre-capstone course immediately preceding the capstone course. Students will gain: A broad-based knowledge of health care delivery systems, a better understanding of health care policies, ethics and current issues, as well as effective communication, leadership and critical thinking skills.
Graduation Requirements
All students must complete the 36 credit general education requirement in order to graduate from this program. A.S. degree holders may need to complete an additional 15-21 general education credits to complete the thirty-six (36) credit hour general education requirement. Students who have not completed an AS degree in a health related field or a minimum of 20 credits in health related courses are required to complete 20 credits of lower division courses in addition to the bachelor level courses. See the lower division support course options below to fulfill this requirement. A cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher is required and a minimum of 120 college level credits. All courses must be completed with a “C” or better.
FOREIGN LANGUAGE: If you have not completed two consecutive years of the same foreign language in high school or 8 credits in college, you will need to complete 8 credits of foreign language before completing the B.A.S. program
CIVIC LITERACY: As per Florida Rule 6A-10.04213, baccalaureate degree students entering a Florida College System (FCS) or State University System (SUS) institution in the 2021-2022 academic school year and thereafter must demonstrate competency through successful completion of a civic literacy course AND by achieving a passing score on the Florida Civic Literacy Examination (FCLE).

Program Admissions
To be admitted to SPC's bachelor's program, you need an active unrestricted/unencumbered license as a Registered Respiratory Therapist. If you live in a state that does not offer respiratory licensure, an active unrestricted or unencumbered Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential issued by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) will suffice.
