St. Petersburg College proudly announces that 100% of its 2024 Physical Therapist Assistant graduates have successfully passed the National Physical Therapy Exam (NPTE) on their first attempt. This is the second year in a row that graduates from SPC’s PTA program have achieved this pass rate, a remarkable success underscoring the high quality of education and training provided at the College.
The NPTE is a rigorous four-hour exam that assesses the knowledge and skills required for licensure as a physical therapist assistant. Passing the exam is mandatory for those wanting to obtain a license to practice as a PTA and is the last piece of the puzzle for students to begin their careers toward a better future. SPC’s perfect pass rate for the second year in a row reflects the comprehensive curriculum of the program as well as the students and faculty's hard work.
SPC's Physical Therapist Assistant Associate in Science program prepares students to become licensed physical therapist assistants. The program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE) and focuses on both classroom instruction and hands-on clinical experience. “We are very proud of our graduates for their determination, perseverance, and dedication to achieving academic and clinical excellence. This accomplishment is a confirmation of the outstanding education students receive from the PTA faculty and clinical instructors in the field,” said Kory Thomas, the program director of the Physical Therapist Assistant program at SPC. “The faculty is dedicated to assisting students in preparing for this rigorous exam, and their time and efforts in helping our students achieve their goals are very much appreciated.”
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of physical therapist assistants and aides is projected to grow 19% from 2023 to 2033, with the median annual wage being $64,080. SPC’s PTA A.S. degree prepares students for a new health career and gives them the education and skills to pass the national licensing exam.
