With great anticipation and enthusiasm, St. Petersburg College has unveiled its 2024-2027 Strategic Plan: Better Jobs, Better Lives, Better Communities. Developed with a committee of more than 70 faculty, staff and College leadership, the overarching goal of the plan is to help students gain better jobs and better lives, which leads to better communities. This process was guided by SPC President Dr. Tonjua Williams and the SPC Board of Trustees.
As part of SPC’s data-driven, decision-making process, the plan includes success metrics to serve as a blueprint that guides the organization toward growth and innovation. During the next three years, the College will focus on the following three pillars:
Deliver Excellence in Teaching and Learning
To ensure students are prepared to enter the workforce and make a living wage and/or efficiently transfer to baccalaureate programs, SPC will drive student achievement in programs of high value, or those that lead to a high wage. In addition to increasing enrollment in high-value programs, SPC plans to increase first-time, full-time, student persistence to 80.5%, and increase the on-time, first-time, full-time, student graduation rate to 45% by the end of June 2027.
Drive Economic Advancement
SPC will help graduates secure high-wage and in-demand jobs by decreasing enrollment in low-value pathways. The College will also strive to cultivate meaningful corporate partnerships by transitioning 600 corporate relationships from prospect to premier status by the end of June 2027. In addition, the College intends to place 12,000 students into high-wage jobs, clinicals, apprenticeships or internships during the next three years.
STRENGTHEN OUR COMMUNITY
SPC will help strengthen our community by engaging SPC students and employees as champions for community change. That starts with our own employees. SPC will increase its employee retention rate to 90%. The College also aims to increase alumni financial giving to 3% and connect with 16,529 disengaged community members to share the benefits of higher education.
“Strategic planning is about shaping a bold and collective vision for SPC's future, and the future is bright!” said Ralph Reid, SPC Executive Director of Strategic Execution. “Every member of the Titan family, students, staff, faculty, and alumni, plays a vital role in driving student success. Together, we are building a stronger community, creating better opportunities, and transforming lives through education and innovation.”
