St. Pete Works Program Concludes After Five Years of Transformative Workforce Impact
Samantha Stanich | 6/17/2025

After five years of dedicated service and meaningful impact, the St. Pete Works job placement initiative, led by St. Petersburg College in partnership with the City of St. Petersburg, will officially conclude operations this month. Since its launch in 2019, the program has connected hundreds of St. Petersburg residents to employment, career training, and support services, strengthening pathways to economic mobility across the city.
Rooted in the mission of equity and empowerment, St. Pete Works was designed to bridge the gap between job seekers and employers, particularly within underserved communities. Over the years, participants have secured career opportunities in health care, construction, technology, hospitality, and other high-demand industries, gaining skills and stability for long-term success.
“St. Pete Works was more than a job placement program — it was a symbol of hope, opportunity, and community-driven change,” said SPC President Dr. Tonjua Williams. “We’re incredibly proud of the lives touched and the futures shaped through this initiative.”
The success of St. Pete Works would not have been possible without the strong collaboration between St. Petersburg College, the City of St. Petersburg, and a network of dedicated community partners, including local businesses, nonprofit organizations, workforce development agencies, and civic leaders. Together, these partners created a collective force for economic opportunity.
