A wave of bold ideas and fresh perspectives took center stage at TEDxSPC: Igniting Collaboration – Paving the Path to a Brighter Future, held at The Digitorium on St. Petersburg College’s Seminole Campus.

The half-day event brought together innovators, educators, technologists, students and community leaders for an inspiring exchange of ideas. Through thought-provoking talks and powerful performances, TEDxSPC showcased how collaboration fuels innovation and strengthens communities.

“As this year’s theme suggests, collaboration is the foundation for building a brighter tomorrow,” said Dr. Louise Black, event organizer and SPC faculty member. “TEDxSPC amplifies bold ideas, fosters creativity and demonstrates how collective action can spark real change.”

The speaker lineup featured a dynamic mix of local voices, including Chef Marques Clark, Marilyn Shaw, Wishy Kane, Krishna Sadasivam, Cynthia Jordan, Caulin Donaldson, Jon Porman, Mark Robinson, Shana Corrada, Ashley Brundage and John Parks & Fred Johnson with The Park Institute Dancers, each offering unique insights into connection, creativity and courage.

Two SPC employees were among the featured presenters, reflecting the depth of expertise and passion within SPC’s own faculty and staff.

Krishna SadasivamTalk: Growing Up with a Blended Brain

Another proud moment for the College came from Professor Krishna Sadasivam of SPC’s Humanities and Fine Arts department. In a heartfelt and humorous talk, he shared his journey growing up neurodivergent and discovering the power of a “blended brain,” one that merges logic, creativity and empathy.

A longtime professional illustrator and digital media educator, Sadasivam brings his passion for creative expression into the classroom, inspiring SPC students to use art and technology to tell meaningful stories.

In addition to the speaker sessions, attendees had multiple opportunities to connect with educators, policymakers, students and local changemakers, further demonstrating the collaborative spirit at the heart of TEDxSPC.

TEDxSPC is part of the global TEDx program — local, independently organized events that create TED-like experiences to share ideas and inspire action.
