Frances Neu passed away on June 30 at the age of 66 after a long battle with breast cancer. She had previously served as SPC’s Vice President of Institutional Advancement and Executive Director of the SPC Foundation, starting in 2011, until her retirement about five years ago.
“Over her lifetime Frances raised approximately $100 million for education. She believed in the transformative power of education and worked tirelessly to ensure that everyone had the opportunity to learn and grow,” her obituary said. “Her smile and her loving spirit filled every room she entered. Her incredibly limitless love, guidance, and compassion will be missed by family and friends.”
Before starting at SPC, she had been president of the Pinellas Education Foundation and worked as a consultant with various nonprofit organizations including Junior Achievement Worldwide.
She was the force behind the creation of Finance Park, according to her obituary. The experiential learning center offers students hands-on lessons in personal financial management.
During her lifetime, she was a member of many boards of directors, including serving as a charter member of the Raymond James Charitable Endowment Fund.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Pinellas County Education Foundation, St. Petersburg College Foundation, or Free Fall Theater of St. Pete.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date; please reach out to the family for further information.
